Stewart Manor, formerly known as Sunrise Gardens, takes its name from the nearby Stewart Manor LIRR station and village founder Alexander Turney Stewart. It is considered part of the Greater Garden City area and was developed starting in 1925 by the Brooklyn-based firm Realty Associates.
